Historic Deanwood Firehouse Goes Green

Client: Deanwood, Washington, DC
Annual Estimated Savings: Over 100,000 kWh/year

Challenge

The Deanwood Firehouse, a historic landmark built in 1908, required a modern solution to join the clean energy movement. With its historic value and role as a community hub, the firehouse presented unique challenges for integrating renewable energy while preserving its legacy.

Solution

Pacific Sun Solar partnered with the DC government to install a solar system on the firehouse roof, transforming the site into a clean energy generator while providing tangible community benefits.

 Key Project Features:

      • Solar Energy Generation: The rooftop system generates over 100,000 kWh annually, contributing to the local grid.
      • Community Impact
      • Energy generated from the firehouse powers approximately 27 households, saving residents up to $500 annually for the next 15 years.
      • Total community savings amount to over $250,000 in free electricity.
      • Roof Leasing Revenue: Building owners benefit from a new revenue stream by leasing their roof to Pacific Sun Solar.
      • Roof Warranty: To ensure peace of mind, Pacific Sun Solar provided a comprehensive roof warranty.

Results

    • Annual Energy Generation: Over 100,000 kWh
