Solar Power for Todd A. Lee Senior Residence

Challenge

The Todd A. Lee Senior Residence, an all-affordable senior housing development, required a clean energy solution to align with Washington, DC’s ambitious climate goals. The challenge was to integrate renewable energy into a newly constructed property while minimizing operating costs and benefitting residents.

Solution

Pacific Sun Solar partnered with Dantes Partners and Gilbane Development Company to deliver a solar installation that powers the entire residence with clean energy. Collaborating with Solar Energy Services, the region’s oldest solar company, the project was completed with precision and care. 

 

Key Project Features: 

      • Rooftop Solar Installation: Dozens of solar panels were installed on the residence’s rooftop, generating approximately 27,000 kWh annually. 
      • Operating Cost Reductions: The solar system significantly lowers the building’s energy costs. 
      • Resident Benefits: The clean energy system provides power without relying on fossil fuels, supporting sustainable living for residents.

      • Annual Energy Generation: 27,000 kWh 
      • Environmental Impact: Reduction in fossil fuel reliance, contributing to the District’s renewable energy targets. 
      • Resident Experience: Clean energy provides a sense of pride and sustainability for senior residents.
